"I am writing to tell you how far I have come in my aviation career in just the last year. A year ago, I was feeling stuck at the flight school, with very few students and poor pay. I was starting to get discouraged and felt that the airline job my school had me dreaming about would never come along and the thought of moving on to a low paying SIC airline job didn’t get me too fired up either. At the time I couldn’t think of many other options, I figured I’d just keep paying the dues, while the loan payments keep piling up.
"About that time, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on Nick Knightly’s material and shift my thinking. It is amazing how narrow your options can seem without a little help from people who know the industry. Anyway, Nick helped me start thinking about what I wanted out of my pilot career and immediately I started taking steps in a new and more productive direction. Aviation life outside the flight school was such a mystery to me before I started learning how to make use of the commercial aviation industry to reverse engineer my career the way I want. I learned tips on how to define my schedule that would fit my family, and how to choose a job that would meet my actual financial needs.
"Today I am making over twice my old paycheck and building much more valuable experience that will propel me to my next job.
"So the first step to get my dream job was to research and locate an employer who could get me to the next step in my career. Using Nick’s program I was able to get my foot in the door with my one of my prospective employers and bypass the hundreds of resumes they already had. Before I knew it, I was talking with the owner of the company and had created an important relationship. While the company wasn’t hiring at the time, I was able to get both feet in the door over a period of just a few months and became the next guy in-line to be hired, and my hours were much less than many of the current employees and resumes in their file cabinet. While waiting for an open position, I was able to build valuable hours in company aircraft and learn the ropes of the operation, just by following some simple but powerful advice.
"When it came time several months later, I was completely prepared for the checkride and got hired that day!
"Today I am earning multi-engine PIC, for a Part 135 international carrier making over twice my old paycheck and building much more valuable experience that will propel me to my next job. My sights are already set on the next step, which is looking a lot closer than it did a year ago, and now, I am actually enjoying the process of building a career. While I may not be at my dream job yet, I have made huge progress, and that never would have happened if it were not for Nick’s timely advice. The cool thing is, I now know exactly what to do next, and how and when to make the moves. I feel like I have my career all mapped out, and I can’t wait to continue the ride.
